Classic Man

Over the past few years I’ve gotten back into comics as some pretty interesting ideas made their way into stores. My list mostly includes pop idol gods, newspaper girls fighting off aliens and cannibals. Quite a few cannibals now that I think about it. It’s not just happening in print either. Artist are posting their stories online for everyone to see. Some stories we’ve heard before. Others put a new spin on something familiar. But sometimes an entirely different creation makes itself at home.

Welcome to Gentlemantown.

The story is about Theo Thatcher, an amnesiac, and Cliff Cavelle, a billionaire investor, who make a deal and team up to pull off a plot of revenge against an old enemy. It takes place in a city where only money and good looks matter, resulting in unrealistic beauty standards. Of course, this doesn’t stop many from spending their fortune on supernatural products and procedures to help them stay younger forever. At least that’s what they claim. Along with a slew of other characters, Theo and Cliff encounter others who would be more than happy to get rid of competition in Gentlemantown. A marketing team looking to stock shelves with poisonous alcoholic beverages, an organized drug cartel and my personal favorite, a psychotic fashion designer, just to name a few of obstacles in their way.

Quick summary: Two fancy guys, a boss and his assistant, shooting at other fancy guys because reasons, whether good or bad.

According to Rhettaro Bloom, creator and artist, the goal is for large parts of the comic to be released sometime this year and if those words hold true I will not shut up about this comic and the questions I and so many others have. What is really happening in Gentlemantown? Who is Theo Thatcher? Is the Office Genie really a genie? Regardless, the questions of Gentlemantown will be answered and I’ll be ready.
